COCO Betaine

COCO Betaine Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride form of betaine, a crystalline alkaloid occurring in sugar beets and other plants. Betaine, acting as a transmethylating metabolic intermediate, is the oxidation product of choline. Betaine hydrochloride is used as a gastric acidifier supplement.

Also known as Trimethylglycine or glycine betaine. Functions: Primarily functions as a humectant and anti-irritant in cosmetic products. The small polar molecules of this ingredient are prone to hydrogen bonding (AKA interacting with water), which in turn gives it the ability to retain moisture.
